About ComSciConCAN
ComSciConCAN is Canada’s first national science communication workshop for graduate students. This unique professional development program aims to help the next generation of leaders in STEM fields develop the skills needed to communicate their research and ideas to their peers, experts in other fields, policymakers, and the general public.
ComSciConCAN looks to bring the longstanding and successful ComSciCon framework from the United States to Canada. Since its establishment in 2013 by graduate students at Harvard University and MIT, the training opportunities offered by ComSciCon have benefited over 500 graduate students across the United States and Canada. What was once a single annual national meeting has expanded to numerous local ComSciCon workshops across the United States. In collaboration with other alumni and invited experts, former ComSciCon attendees have published over 80 articles written at these workshops, initiated new science communication endeavours, and built lasting professional networks.
At ComSciConCAN, ample time will be allocated for networking with science communication experts and developing science outreach collaborations with fellow graduate students. All workshop participants will produce an original piece of science writing and receive feedback from workshop attendees and experts including, but not limited to, journalists, authors, public policy advocates, educators, etc.

A propos de ComSciConCAN
ComSciConCAN est la première série nationale d’ateliers de communication scientifique pour étudiants aux cycles supérieurs. Ce programme unique de développement professionnel à pour but d’aider la prochaine génération de dirigeants en STIM à developper ses capacitées à communiquer leur recherche et idées à leur pairs, experts de d’autres domaines, responsables politiques, et le public.
ComSciConCAN amène au Canada le format d’ateliers et conférences ComSciCon qui a fait ses preuves aux USA. Depuis sa création en 2013 par des étudiants de Havard University et MIT, plus de 500 étudiants gradués des USA et Canada. De nombreuses franchises ont également vu le jour aux USA en plus du rassemblement annuel national. Les anciens participants de ComSciCon ont depuis publié, plus de 80 articles élaborés lors des ateliers en collaboration avec des alumni et experts invités, établissant ainsi un réseau professionnel durable et de nouvelles initiatives en communication scientifique.
Durant la formation ComSciConCAN, des périodes de réseautage sont prévues afin d’échanger avec des experts en communication scientifique et les autres étudiants gradués, et pourquoi pas commencer de nouvelles collaborations en communication scientifique! Egalement, tout les participants de ComSciConCan produiront un manuscrit sur le sujet scientifique de leur choix qui sera édité par des experts en communication scientifique.
